It’s a moment of pride, but also a reminder of the ongoing work that still lies ahead.
When we first started this initiative, we didn’t know how it would grow. We knew there was a need—there always is—but seeing the journey unfold has been nothing short of inspiring. From humble beginnings, we’ve managed to provide devices that are transforming young lives. These laptops are more than just machines; they’re gateways to education, opportunities, and dreams.
The Need for Technology in Education
In today’s world, access to technology is no longer a luxury. It’s a necessity. With the majority of schools incorporating online learning, educational resources, and digital tools into their curricula, the digital divide has become more apparent than ever. For many kids, not having a computer means missing out on assignments, research, and the chance to develop essential skills.
That’s where our program comes in. By collecting and refurbishing old laptops, we’ve been able to provide refurbished devices to students who wouldn’t otherwise have access to them. The result? Hundreds of children now have the chance to succeed in school and beyond, regardless of their financial situation.
1000 Devices—A Huge Milestone
Reaching the 1000-device mark is a milestone that feels a bit surreal. A number like that speaks to the real impact we’ve made in the lives of children across communities. It represents more than just the total number of laptops we’ve distributed—it’s a symbol of our collective efforts, of every person who has donated, volunteered, or supported the cause in any way.
But as we look at the horizon, we realize we’re only scratching the surface. With so many kids still lacking the resources they need, the goal now is to push forward and make sure that every student who needs a device gets one. The gap is still there, and with every laptop we get closer to closing it.
The Importance of Community Support
Getting this far would not have been possible without the incredible support of our community—businesses, individuals, and organizations that have stepped up to donate old devices, offer funding, and volunteer their time. Each contribution, no matter how big or small, has made a difference.
It’s a reminder of how powerful we can be when we work together. Whether it's the company that donates their old devices, the volunteers who help refurbish them, or the donors who give financial support, everyone plays a role in this mission. And it’s not just about the numbers—it’s about the collective spirit that makes a difference in the lives of kids who need it most.
Looking Forward
As we sit 30 laptops short of reaching 1000 devices, we’re filled with a sense of both accomplishment and urgency. There are still so many kids who need help, so many schools and communities that are waiting for their turn to benefit from this program.
But the road ahead is bright. We know that with continued support, we’ll hit our goal and continue beyond it. We’re not just aiming for 1000—we’re aiming for more. We want every child to have the tools they need to succeed, and we won’t stop until we reach that goal.
So, as we celebrate this incredible milestone of 1000 devices (soon), we also look forward to the next chapter in this journey. Together, we can continue to make a difference, one laptop at a time.

Are you looking for ways to help? Whether you have old devices gathering dust or want to donate your time or funds, there’s always an opportunity to get involved. Reach out to us today, and let’s work together to make sure every child has access to the tools they need to thrive in today’s digital world.

CEFK - 950!!

https://www.computerequipmentforkids.org/blog/cefk-950

https://www.computerequipmentforkids.org/blog/cefk-950#comments

Uncategorized

Built out #950 today. I started this project 12 years ago with one goal in mind, to give laptops/computers out to students to help them use technology to further their learning experience. Today I am building out our 950th device! I want to thank everyone who has helped the program and look forward to getting to 1000 :) Thank you to all friends, family, corporate sponsors, and anyone else that has helped the program over the years!! As always, keep learni [...]

As always, keep learning!
Bartlett

Thankful

https://www.computerequipmentforkids.org/blog/thankful

https://www.computerequipmentforkids.org/blog/thankful#comments

Uncategorized

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I'm looking back over the year and feeling very thankful for all the people (and programs) that have made it a great year for the Computer Equipment For Kids Program!!! We reached number 900 a few days ago! Built out/repaired over 200 devices since last Thanksgiving. This program would be nothing without your support, thank you!!! However, for many people around the world, owning a computer remains an unattainable dream. This is where computer donations come in, providing a lifeline to those without access to technology.

Computer donations can come from various sources, such as businesses, government programs, and individual donors. They offer a low-cost way for people without technology to access the tools they need to succeed in the modern world. By receiving a computer, individuals can gain access to the internet, educational resources, and job opportunities.

One of the most significant impacts of computer donations is improved education. With a computer, students can access online educational resources, such as online courses and virtual classrooms. They can also complete assignments and communicate with their teachers and classmates. Furthermore, students in underserved communities who receive computer donations have been shown to perform better academically, close the achievement gap, and increase their chances of success.

Computer donations also have a profound impact on job seekers, particularly those from low-income communities. With a computer, individuals can search for job opportunities, create and send out resumes, and participate in virtual job fairs. This gives them a level playing field with their peers, who may have access to technology, and increases their chances of finding a job.

Moreover, computer donations can also help bridge the digital divide, providing access to technology to those who otherwise would not have it. This helps close the gap between those who have access to technology and those who don't, making it possible for everyone to participate in the digital world.

In conclusion, computer donations play a crucial role in empowering individuals without technology to access the tools they need to succeed in the modern world. They provide improved education, job opportunities, and help bridge the digital divide. By providing access to technology, computer donations have a positive impact on the lives of people in need and help to create a more equitable society. If you have an old computer lying around, consider donating it to a local organization or school to make a difference in someone's life.

CEFKORG - LAB READY!!

https://www.computerequipmentforkids.org/blog/cefkorg-lab-ready

https://www.computerequipmentforkids.org/blog/cefkorg-lab-ready#comments

Uncategorized

This is a great example of how computer donations can be reused to fill a need away from their initial purpose.
